NALHFA has committees which advise and assist the Board of Directors in carrying out association objectives. These committees are open to all NALHFA members including regular, affiliate, and non-profit NALHFA members (except for the Executive and Nominating Committees).
By participating on committees, you put yourself in a national leadership role in the field of affordable housing finance. Right now, NALHFA leadership and key affiliate partners are working to create the future of the association with a focus on innovative programs and services to enhance the value of membership. The next few years will be an exciting time for NALHFA with leadership opportunities continuing to grow.
The NALHFA Legislative Committee helps formulate the Association’s federal legislative and regulatory priorities. Committee recommendations are submitted to the NALHFA Board of Directors for consideration and adoption at its Winter Board meeting. The Committee also aids in coordinating advocacy efforts by the NALHFA membership in reaching out to members of Congress and the Executive Branch.

Conference Planning Committee
The NALHFA Conference Planning Committee is responsible for creating the program for each Annual Educational Conference. Working with the conference host agency committee members decide on a theme, major speakers, concurrent sessions, affordable housing tours and social events. Following an annual educational conference the committee holds a de-briefing session as an aid in planning subsequent conferences.

Prior to the annnual educational conference the Awards Committee solicits nominations from its members for projects or programs that display extraordinary affordability or financing features that have addressed significant challenges and resulted in innovative solutions to meet the community’s housing need. The Committee reviews the nominations it receives and selects agencies to receive Awards of Excellence.
Chair: Ron Williams, Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corporation, NALHFA Board member.
The NALHFA Nominating Committee, chaired by the Immediate Past President and composed of at least two other NALHFA regular members, nominates individuals to serve as officers and directors of the Association. The Committee meets at least 30 days before the Annual Business Meeting to prepare its slate. The Committee’s report is circulated to the membership at least 20 days before the election, which is held during the Awards during the Annual Educational Conference. Vacancies arising between Annual Meetings are elected by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
There is no standing Nominating Committee. Members are appointed each spring by the NALHFA President.

The Executive Committee consists of the NALHFA officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Immediate Past President. The Committee convenes if and when issues arise. Its actions are referred to the Board of Directors for its consideration.
